Chandler native Melissa Buhl was a world class BMX and mountain bike racer. She turned pro in 1997 at age 15, signing with team RockShox Devo. She won the 1998 Junior DH National Championship. In 2001 she signed with KHS Factory Racing, and from there her career really took off. She won numerous tour, national, and world championships in slalom, four cross, downhill, and other events.
Melissa retired from racing in 2012.
