Description: Image of a page from program of Peter Partain winning the Liston Award.

"Peter Partain earned one of the NAIA's highest honors when he was named the winner of the Emil S. Liston award for academic and athletic superiority.  The award is named in honor of the NAIA's first executive secretary and the prime mover behind the men's basketball tournament.

Each year the NAIA presents this honor to the top junior basketball player, men's or women's, who has shown high academic and scholastic achievement.

An NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, Peter also boasts a 3.26 grade point average in his major of Chemistry.

President Dr. David Winter comments on Partain, 'In my 14 years at Westmont, I do not recall any athlete with greater coordination, physical ability and natural talents.  He is equally committed to his academics pursuits, choosing one of the most difficult majors and excelling in this area as well.'

'He epitomizes the ideal Westmont student-athlete,' says Chet Kammerer.  'He's certainly a leader.'"
