Mekell Wesley was a two sport star at Hamilton High in the early 2000's. He posted a monster senior season that saw him named to the All-State team as a wide receiver, earn recognition as a Prepstar Magazine All-American, and honored as the 2004 Southeast Valley Player of the Year. He set Hamilton records in receiving yards in a season with 1,087 and receptions in a game with 10. He was a dangerous return man, and scored nine touchdowns alone on special teams throughout his high school career. He was also a part of the 2004 men's 4x100m relay state title team (alongside Jeremy Tucker).
Wesley took his speed and dangerous return skills to San Diego State University. He played wide receiver and was the team's kick return man. He amassed over 1000 return yards and a touchdown in his career for the Aztecs. A talented speedster, Wesley was another member of Hamilton's early 2000's juggernaut who found success at the next level.
